This course introduces foundational High Performance Computing concepts for AI, science, and engineering workloads. Participants learn about core hardware components and essential parallel computing principles. The seminar covers workload management using Slurm, interactive access via Open OnDemand, and monitoring resource usage through XDMoD.

Computational chemistry and HPC

This course provided an introduction on using HPC infrastructure for computational bioscience applications (and related fields), through practical examples, use cases, and specific methodologies.

Biosciences using High Performance Computing (HPC) Systems

This course focused on Large Language Models running on High-Performance Computing systems. Participants gained a foundational understanding of the Hugging Face Transformers library, embeddings’ models, and of Retrieval-Augmented Generation. They discovered how to effectively set up an inference server on HPC systems as well as a deployment process and limitations. Training of the Greek LLM Meltemi was also presented. This seminar included hands-on sessions where users were be able to run the provided code.
